City parks, trails, open space, and recreational facilities play an important role by offering opportunities
to improve health and wellness, protect the environment, and create inclusive, livable communities.
Established in 1982, the nonprofit Pepper Tree Foundation was created by the City of Rolling Hills Estates as an added way to enrich the quality of life in Rolling Hills Estates. The mission of the Pepper Tree Foundation is to maintain, enhance and develop City owned parks, trails, open space, and recreation facilities and to support community arts, ceremonial, cultural, educational, entertainment and recreational events and programs making the community a better place to live, work, and play. This can be accomplished through tax-deductible donations and proceeds from the established annual events, Tracy Austin Doubles Tennis Tournament and the Hills Are Alive 5k/10k.
Organization
The Foundation has a Board of Directors, who also serve as Members of the Rolling Hills Estates City Council. The Mayor serves as the Chair of the Board. The Board serves without compensation. The City of Rolling Hills Estates Park and Activities Commission serves as an advisory board to the Board of Directors. The City Manager of the City of Rolling Hills Estates serves as the Chief Executive Officer. The Administrative Services Director of the City of Rolling Hills Estates serves as the Chief Financial Officer. The City Clerk of the City of Rolling Hills Estates serves as the Secretary of the Foundation.
