Brush Clearance Annual Notice

Starting in the 2023 year, all residents located in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones within the State of California are required to maintain defensible space on their property and near structures.

Annual brush clearance notices have been sent to residents by the Forestry Division of the County Fire Department. Establishing defensible space around structures is important, and new laws and technology solutions are aiding the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s ability to ensure defensible space is maintained around structures. Inspections for properties on the Palos Verdes Peninsula is anticipated to begin on June 1st.

Guidance on defensible space requirements and landscaping recommendations can be found by viewing the DEFENSIBLE-SPACE-BOOKLET.
