The City of Rolling Hills Estates is insured through a joint powers municipal self-insurance pool. The pool is comprised of member cities of the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (CJPIA) from throughout the state. The City's membership with the CJPIA provides liability insurance as well as valuable training programs to help identify exposures and to prevent loses.
The City's risk management program involves the active review of City facilities and operational procedures, as well as providing employee training. The City is committed to protecting the public from injury and financial liability. Aspects of the program include:
- Reviewing insurance contracts with outside contractors and consultants
- Processes both liability and property claims brought against the City
- Administers the City's safety and Worker's Compensation program, including training programs
- Ensures compliance with Federal and State Mandated programs, such as Americans With Disabilities Act
