Be Prepared! Obtain sandbags before the rain comes! Sandbags and instructional materials for their use are available at most County of Los Angeles Fire Department Fire Stations, including Palos Verdes Peninsula Stations.

The City also maintains sand and empty bags, as well as some  pre-filled sandbags, at Ernie Howlett Park- Maintenance Facility Monday- Friday between 7 a.m – 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. LIMIT 10 PER HOUSEHOLD (while supplies last).

How to use Sandbags Effectively
Fill sandbags one-half full with sand or soil, fold top of sandbag down and rest bag on its folded top. Place in areas where needed. NEVER UNDERRATE THE POWER OF WATER AND DEBRIS FLOWS!  For additional information, view the “Using Sand Bags” guide.

Note: sandbags are for small flow protection (up to two feet only) and if improperly placed could cause damage to your neighbor’s property. Therefore, a community effort must be employed!
